If you become disabled, you may be entitled to social security disability benefits from the federal government. Generally, if a person has a physical or mental disability that causes him/her to be unable to do any kind of work for which he/she is suited (given the person's age, education, and prior work experience) and the disability is expected to last at least one year or result in death, then the person will be considered disabled under the Social Security Law.
